New signings Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart both made their Tottenham debuts in the friendly contest, with the former giving an assured display in midfield.

Tottenham pre-season fixtures

Of course, Tottenham begin their pre-season today with the visit of Ipswich.

However following that, Spurs will face Championship sides Reading and Birmingham in back-to-back days next week, before finishing their pre-season against Watford at Vicarage Road on September 5.

A week later, and Jose Mourinho's first full season in charge begins with a home game against Everton!

We'll bring you the Tottenham team news as soon as it's in. Indeed, it's pre-season, but it will certainly be an interesting selection nonetheless.

There are a number of question marks ahead of the 2020-21 season. Who will start in central midfield and at right-back will be particularly intriguing.

We should also get a glimpse of Hojbjerg in action, which is certainly exciting.

No Kane for Tottenham today

Harry Kane will be absent for Spurs this afternoon due to quarantine rules following his return from holiday in the Bahamas.

The Bahamas was actually on the UK's quarantine exemption list when the England captain arrived in the country, only for that to then change.

Kane is required to self-isolate for 14 days upon his return to England.

Ipswich lowdown

While Tottenham's 2019/20 season only came to an end a little under a month ago, Ipswich have not played a competitive fixture since March, with the regular League One campaign halted and only the play-offs allowed to take place as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Tractor Boys - one of the pre-season favourites for promotion after relegation from the Championship - finished a lowly 11th as a result, with plenty of question marks over the future of manager Paul Lambert.

Ipswich - who will begin the new season against relegated Wigan on September 12 - began their pre-season schedule with a pair of 75-minute friendlies against fourth-tier Colchester on Tuesday, running out 4-0 winners in the first game before a 1-0 triumph in the second.

Hojbjerg and Hart to feature?

Tottenham fans will no doubt be eager to catch a glimpse of their new signings in action this afternoon.

Spurs swooped to sign Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in a £15m deal from Southampton last month, while earlier this week experienced ex-England no1 Joe Hart also arrived on a two-year contract.

Both men could play some part against Ipswich today.
