Entries for London Home Design Awards 2018 have now closed.

Living rooms in London homes are working harder than ever, so careful planning is crucial to make the most of every inch of space.

This room must be practical and comfortable, but also be able to adapt if used as a home office by day or a dining space by night.

The challenge of getting it right, particularly if your living room layout is an awkward shape, is one most Londoners have to tackle in the planning stages.

We want to hear from all of you who have got it right, so we can recognise the hours, weeks and months you spent planning your living room and share your ingenious solutions to inspire millions of others.

Our first ever London Home Design Awards are aimed at recognising the best makeover and decoration projects by renters and home owners across the capital in five different categories of the home, from the kitchen, bathroom and living room to the bedroom and the garden.

To enter the living room category, sponsored by Bang & Olufsen and guest judged by Mad About The House interiors blog author Kate Watson-Smyth, simply upload at least one image of your completed makeover or renovation.

Entries close at 12pm on June 8 2018. See Official Rules here.

HERE'S WHAT YOU COULD WIN

One winner per category will be picked by our expert panel and guest judge to win a £500 Houzz Shop voucher to spend on Bang & Olufsen products and a £250 voucher to spend on Tom Dixon products, also in the Houzz Shop. Plus, we'll be sending the winners to a lamp-making workshop at The Factory in Tom Dixon's new flagship store, worth £250.

WE WILL MAKE YOUR HOME THE STAR

Each of the winning projects will be featured on Houzz and in the Evening Standard's Homes & Property section on Wednesday 4 July.

Share your entry on Instagram using #homedesignawards for a chance to be featured on @houzzuk and @eshomesproperty.

TOP TIPS FROM THE EXPERTS FOR PLANNING YOUR LIVING ROOM

When renovating or decorating your home, it's important to get the planning stages right, says David Morris of Bang & Olufsen, a company known for their high-end audio, picture and multimedia products.

"And technology should be a key consideration, just as you would consider lighting and colour. Even in smaller living areas, there are clever ways to maximise space without comprising on style or atmosphere."

Consider wall-mounted products, or those that take up a very small foot print. "Bang & Olufsen's BeoSound Shape wall speaker will really impact the feel of a home without wasting an inch of valuable floor space,” Morris adds.

MEET THE JUDGES

We will be in touch with all shortlisted entrants to request more details to pass on to our judging panel, which includes the editors of Homes & Property and Houzz, Janice Morley and Victoria Harrison; design journalist Barbara Chandler, The Great Interior Design Challenge judge Daniel Hopwood and Richard MacRae of architecture design studio EDRM.

Our guest judges include celebrity food writer Rachel Khoo, Mad About The House author Kate Watson-Smyth, interior design duo Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead of 2LG Studio, the founder of Mr & Mrs Smith hotels Tamara Lohan and founder of The Balcony Gardener Isabelle Palmer.

Judging will take place on Monday 18 June in the exclusive and luxurious Lecture Room & Library at Sketch, London's most instagrammable design hotspot and restaurant.
