Welcome to Standard Sport's LIVE coverage of Barcelona vs Bayern Munich.

Bayern outlined why they are the team to beat in this season's Champions League with a stunning 8-2 quarter-final demolition of Barcelona in Lisbon.

The German champions blitzed Barca with four goals in the opening 31 minutes, adding four more in the second, to set up a semi-final with Manchester City or Lyon.

It was a mesmerising performance, helped by a horror show from Barca as a brace from Thomas Muller was complemented by goals from Ivan Perisic and Serge Gnabry put them 4-1 up at the break.

Joshua Kimmich, Robert Lewandowski and a brace from Barca loanee Philippe Coutinho inflicted a heaviest ever European defeat on the Catalans as Hansi Flick's side ran riot.

Boss Quique Setien will pay the price for this embarrassment, coming after a limp end to their league campaign - and Standard Sport understands Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite to land the job as Barca plan an emergency meeting on Monday.

Setien's chance to silence

Quique Setien knows he is a man under pressure.

Speculation was rife that Barcelona wanted Xavi to replace the coach after Real Madrid pipped Barcelona to the LaLiga title.

Photo: AFPThe board have since backed Setien in public with the dreaded vote of confidence, but a heavy defeat tonight could be the end of his short reign.

Barcelona haven't won the Champions League since 2015 and have been forced to watch rivals Real Madrid dominate the competition. That, combined with losing grip on the title, has seen critics question where Barcelona will be when Messi eventually leaves.

But if Setien can guide his Barcelona team past Bayern tonight, that would at least quieten some of the dissenting voices who feel he is unequipped to be in the dugout.

The debate: Messi vs Lewandowski

Football fans love to compare players and their achievements, but as Cristiano Ronaldo will attest, few can keep up with the incredible Lionel Messi.

But this season, Robert Lewandowski has been scoring at a rate that only Messi and Ronaldo can boast and the Polish striker has already been crowned the top goalscorer in Europe for 2019/20.

While Messi has once again been central to Barca with 25 goals and 21 assists in LaLiga, Lewandowski has scored 34 goals in just 31 appearances. Add another 13 Champions League strikes in seven games in the competition and it's clear Lewandowski is in the conversation.

The pair have also contributed the most goals since the restart of the football season: Lewandowski (14 goals, 3 assists), Messi (7 goals, 9 assists).

While it is difficult to compare their very distinctive styles, they are both crucial to their team's success - and it will be a joy to seem them compete against each tonight.

Invincible

It's fair to say that 2020 has been a tough year for pretty everyone - apart from Bayern Munich on the pitch.

Photo: PAThe Bundesliga champions can boast an incredible record since the return of the year, prevailing in 22 of their 23 matches. They are on a run of 18 successive competitive wins - a new German record.

They extended that run with a 4-1 success over Chelsea in the last-16 second leg. Barcelona will likelyprove to be a tougher test, but the only team to stop them scoring since Hansi Flick took over was RB Leipzig.

It will take a monumental effort to stop Lewandowski and co. from scoring tonight in Lisbon.

Our Spanish football correspondent Ben Hayward will be on hand to provide analysis tonight. Here's what he makes of Barca's team selection:

"Arturo Vidal, who spoke in the pre-match press conference yesterday, starts at the top of a diamond in midfield as Antoine Griezmann drops to the bench. "It remains to be seen how it will work out and Setien often says formations are not the most important thing, but it seems something of a conservative approach from the 61-year-old and without youngsters Riqui Puig or Ansu Fati, not a particularly inspired selection. "In fact, it is an XI which could easily have been picked by his predecessor, Ernesto Valverde. ."

Bayern unchanged

If you've got a perfect formula, why tinker with it?

Hansi Flick has named an unchanged XI from the side that comfortably saw off Chelsea 4-1 at the Allianz Arena.

As expected, Philippe Coutinho does start on the bench against his parent club, while Kingsley Coman is deemed fit enough to be on the bench after recovering from a muscle problem.

Griezmann benched!

It's a big call from Barcelona coach Quique Setien tonight.

Photo: AFPThe Barcelona coach has handed a start to Sergi Roberto to form a diamond in a four-man midfield, with Antoine Griezmann the man left on the bench.

That's the only real surprise selection for the Catalan giants, with Ousmane Dembele back on the bench for the first time since February following surgery on his hamstring.

Arturo Vidal is also preferred to Ivan Rakitic, who increasingly looks to be heading for the exit at Camp Nou.
