Prediction: Bayern Munich 3-1 Chelsea (6-1 on aggregate)

There have been many special Champions League nights in Chelsea's history but this will surely be a bridge too far for Lampard's squad.

Taking on arguably the favourites to win the competition is one thing. But to face a three-goal deficit without key men such as Pulisic and Azpilicueta, the task is made only more difficult.

Against a side that has consistently leaked goals all season, the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry will be licking their lips at the prospect of adding to their goal tallies. Comfortable home win.

Head to head history and results

Chelsea can take solace from their last meeting at the Allianz Arena, where the Blues famously won the Champions League in 2012 against the Bavarian giants on their own turf.

Bayern have the edge in the overall head-to-head, winning twice in the five meetings - including a 3-2 victory in the Champions League back in 2005 - although Chelsea progressed 6-5 on aggregate to reach the semi-finals.

Team news coming up!

The Allianz Arena holds special memories for Chelsea fans after their European triumph in Munich eight years ago.

But while the chips are stacked against them again tonight, there won't be a contingent of Blues supporters to cheer them on tonight due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Still, it should be a cracker. We'll have the confirmed lineups for you very shortly, so don't go anywhere!

Chelsea injury news and suspensions

Frank Lampard will be without five first-team members as his team look to pull off a historic comeback in Munich.

Trailing 3-0 from the first leg in March, Chelsea will be missing in-form winger Christian Pulisic after he was sidelined for six weeks with a hamstring injury sustained during the FA Cup Final.

Captain Cesar Azpilicueta also came off injured in that game and has not travelled as a result.

Pedro - who has almost certainly played his final game for the club - is ruled out with a shoulder injury, while Willian is poised to sign for Arsenal after playing his final game for the club.

Billy Gilmour and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are still out, while Jorginho and Marcos Alonso are both suspended after picking up yellow and red cards in the first leg respectively.

Bayern Munich injury news and suspensions

Hansi Flick is able to pick from a near full squad, although the Bayern Munich coach will be without Kingsley Coman after picking up a muscle injury.

Niklas Süle, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in October, returned against Marseille as a substitute. But the German centre-back is not expected to be involved from the start as he continues his recovery.

Benjamin Pavard has been out since suffering a foot injury in training on July 26 and that means Joshua Kimmich is likely to fill in at right-back.

Kimmich, along with Thiago Alcantara, will miss the quarter-final (should they progress) through suspension if they pick up a booking tonight.

Lethal Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski can perhaps feel aggrieved that after a stunning group stage campaign, he may not get the chance to equal or emulate the Champions League record for goals in a season.

Photo: ReutersAs it stands, the Polish striker has found the net 11 times in just six UCL appearances. But with the quarter-final and semi-finals reduced from four games to two due to the one-legged ties in Lisbon, Lewandowski would only have, at the maximum, four more games to break Cristiano Ronaldo's record of 17 goals.

No doubt, the 31-year-old would fancy his chances of doing so. Lewandowski has scored an incredible 52 goals in just 43 appearances for Bayern this season - including 34 in the Bundesliga. That includes a run of 11 goals in his last 10 games.

While he may not get a chance to beat the record, the lethal striker will certainly enjoy putting a few more past a leaky Chelsea backline tonight if given the chance.

Bayern wary of complacency

Photo: GettyHead coach Hansi Flick

"Chelsea have a very good squad with a lot of depth. I know the youth work in England and how they have been bringing out many good young players in recent years. They have a team where they can cover positions with young players. We are prepared for that."

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer

"We cannot be too relaxed despite our advantage from the first leg. We had a short break. We know we have a good starting position but it is a restart for us. So we want to start with a good game. At home we want to win against Chelsea."

Rudiger urges Blues to play with 'pride'

Antonio Rudiger knows Bayern Munich better than most, having played for Stuttgart at the beginning of his career and playing alongside several of their players at international level for Germany.

Photo: ReutersThe 27-year-old wants the Blues to show some pride by putting in a good performance tonight and believes the pressure will be on the Bavarian giants after their first-leg victory.

"This is what we want to do. The way they beat us in the first game ... we want to show pride. They have more to lose than us. That has to be to our advantage.

"They are a good team, we all know. It will be a difficult night but as I said before, we have to go out and prove it to ourselves and show some pride."

Lampard: We still believe in historic turnaround

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard believes his players are capable of overturning their first-leg deficit against Bayern Munich.

Photo: ReutersNo team in the history of the Champions League has ever progressed when losing the first leg by three goals at home.

Lampard admits its a "huge task" to fight back after the 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge but has faith in his players to take the game to Bayern Munich.

"I believe we can," he told reporters in his pre-match press conference. "We have to, the players have to.

"It's a huge task. We have to understand the situation we're in and it will be extremely tough. Games have turned to big degrees. We have to believe we have the opportunity to do something special. We've got to play with confidence.

"Can it free us up against a really good team? That's what I expect to see from the team. We have to tackle this in the right way."

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Photo: AFPIf things had gone differently in January, Hudson-Odoi might have been playing against Chelsea tonight after the German club had two bids rejected. But the 19-year-old opted to stay with his boyhood club, signing a lucrative long-term contract in the process.

Injuries and off-the-field issues have stunted his progress since, having been limited to cameos from the bench, but the talented teenager will be itching to prove his doubter wrong and show why Bayern wanted him so badly in the first place.
