Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman hopes the Catalan club can complete a Deadline Day deal for Lyon forward Memphis Depay.

The ex-Manchester United attacker is wanted by his former Netherlands boss, and Lyon’s sporting director Juninho Pernambucano revealed on Sunday night that the 26-year-old had reached an agreement with the Blaugrana.

“We want him to come to Barcelona and he also wants to come,” Koeman told Dutch television station NOS on Monday.

“He’s an excellent player. He can play as a striker, but also does a great job as a left winger.

"He has strength, holds the ball up well, wins his duels and performs at a high level.”

The transfer, which would cost around €25million, is likely to depend on whether Barca can sell winger Ousmane Dembele to Manchester United in the coming hours.
