Freddie Flintoff prepares for TV comeback after Top Gear horror crash

Freddie Flintoff is set to return to television screens just over a year after almost being killed in a car crash while filming Top Gear.

The former England cricketer and TV presenter, 46, has kept a relatively low profile while recovering from major facial injuries he sustained in December 2022.

But he could be back in the spotlight soon as reports suggest he is filming a second series of his BBC cricket reality show Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams.

A source told The Sun: “This will be a huge comfort to his fans because it shows he's healing well and returning to two of his greatest passions - sport and television.

“It's obvious that there is some scarring, which everyone expected, but Freddie looks to have made huge progress since he was last seen in public playing cricket.

“He's clearly comfortable enough to get in front of a camera again - something which was not the case this time last year.

“They're nervous first steps, as he's recovering both mentally and physically, but the TV show he's making is a real passion project for him.”

The first Field of Dreams series featured Flintoff returning to his home city of Preston to recruit youngsters to cricket.

Flintoff’s second outing will take him to India where the sport is hugely popular. 

The most recent pictures of Flintoff were taken in neighbouring Sri Lanka where he met members of the Lancashire Cricket Academy on tour.

Father-of-two Flintoff could be smiling in the images and seemed at ease as he chatted with youngsters and posed with Sri Lanka spin-bowling great Muttiah Muralitharan.
