Rent a Hobbit House: former granary near Hay-on-Wye listed for sale with a quirky holiday let in the garden

An unusual Hobbit house-style holiday let has been listed for sale along with a four-bedroom former granary in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales.

Included as part of the package, the Hobbit House is currently run as a successful holiday let, with guests choosing to stay on the double-size sofa bed or in the main house's en suite ground-floor bedroom.

Rentals include the use of the quirky earth-covered outhouse, the patio area and a wood-fired hot tub.

“Until now The Shire felt like a fantasy land that we could only ever see at the cinema or on the television, but this remarkable property brings it to life," says Rightmove director Miles Shipside.

The main house, once a grain store for the Castle Inn across the road, has a large kitchen-diner, a lounge and four bedrooms arranged over the ground and first floors.

Set in just under three acres of garden and adjoining land in Pengenffordd, which is about three-and-a-half hours' drive from London, the period package has been listed for sale for £385,000 through Clee Tompkinson & Francis.
