The property company behind the £800 million Paddington Cube development next to the station have released new images of the building after starting work on the 14 storey office, shops and restaurant scheme.

Sellar, which also built The Shard, said it will approaching potential occupiers of the 360,000 sq ft of office space, 78,000 of shops and the rooftop bar and restaurant — the highest in west London — in the New Year.

The development will also lead to the pedestrianisation of London Street at the side of the station and create a new entrance to the Bakerloo Line Underground station.

Chief executive James Sellar said the project, scheduled to be completed by spring 2022 and designed by Shard architect Renzo Piano, will give Paddington “the approach and entrance that Brunel always intended but was never delivered.”

He added: ”We’ve had our heads down on this incredibly complex project and wanted let people in the market know about the scale and quality of it.”
