New flats in Greenwich: stamp duty will be paid by the developer at these waterfront flats in the conservation area

The 26 apartments are moments from Cutty Sark and Greenwich town centre.

Located in a conservation area as well as being in the buffer zone of a Unesco World Heritage Site and a Protected Vista viewing corridor, Thames Street, a new scheme of 26 apartments on the Greenwich waterfront, presented an architectural challenge.

Squire and Partners came up with a hybrid scheme, featuring dual design treatments and differing heights.

Vertical structural columns are a reference to timber piles along the river and mooring posts for the horse ferry that once operated here.

One part of the building is clad in zinc panels inspired by the area’s industrial heritage — the metal sheds of arc welders — while the other section has a façade of warm-toned brick that chimes with the period housing set back from the river.

The block occupies a fantastic position, moments from Cutty Sark and Greenwich town centre, and has floor-to-ceiling glass.

All apartments have outside space.

Prices start at £485,000 for one-bedroom flats.

L&Q, the developer, is offering to pay stamp duty. Call 0333 003 3770.
