Cube Haus: the innovative developer building small site homes by big name architects in Peckham, Stoke Newington and Acton

Modern prefabs are the perfect fit.

The challenge for the next decade and beyond is to produce compact, space-efficient, affordable, attractive and eco-friendly housing for families, singles and couples.

Cube Haus is on a mission to serve up reasonably priced, well-designed homes built on small or awkward-shaped urban sites using a unique method.

The company identifies plots, appoints an architect, secures planning permission and brings the property forward for sale through niche estate agency The Modern House.

It then charges 10 per cent of the construction cost to manage the build project — though buyers can opt to manage it themselves.

Modular — prefabricated — design is being championed, while the chosen architects include renowned Sir David Adjaye, innovative east London firm Carl Turner Architects and Skene Catling de la Peña, whose angular Flint House was a RIBA award winner in 2015.

Peckham, Sydenham, Acton, Stoke Newington, Forest Gate and Friern Barnet are among locations where Cube Haus projects are under way.

Homes range in size from 860sq ft to 1,500sq ft, while prices start from £639,640.
