Help to Buy homes in London: four of the best spots to find the latest first-time buyer homes for sale across the capital

This spring and summer a new crop of Help to Buy homes comes on to the market in London, led by No 3 Upper Riverside at Greenwich Peninsula.

With a prime position within an £8.4 billion regeneration zone, the flats go on sale in June, priced from £550,000 (upperriverside.co.uk).

Over the next 15 or so years there are huge plans for this swathe of land by the O2. Developer Knight Dragon owns a 150-acre site close to North Greenwich station.

As well as thousands of homes, the project includes a crown-shaped building by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, a cinema, shops, an indoor “urban forest”, a purpose-built design district, two schools and a film studio.

Canning Town is another focus of major regeneration and next month Help to Buy homes will launch at 546 Barking Road.

The nearest station is Plaistow but the site is also within walking distance of the new Crossrail station at Custom House. Prices start from £300,000 for a one-bedroom flat, or £420,000 for a two-bedroom flat. Homes will be ready to move into this summer (colliersproperty.co.uk).

A little further north, homes at Lime Quarter in Bow went on sale this month priced from £355,000.

City views from the upper floors of the 20- storey tower are to die for, and the development will also include a business hub so it will be great for those who work from home.

For commuters it is a three-minute walk to Devons Road DLR station which is less than 15 minutes from Canary Wharf, or 10 minutes to Bromley-by-Bow Tube (savills.com).

For a leafier vibe in a location which has already up and come, Help to Buy homes launch at The Gateway, Chiswick, this month.

On Chiswick High Road with its great range of shops, bars, cafés and restaurants, and close to the Thames, prices at this boutique scheme of 79 flats by L&Q start at £460,000 for a one-bedroom flat, and £575,000 for a two-bedroom home (thegatewayw4.london).

All the flats have balconies and are set around a landscaped communal garden, while Kew Bridge station to Waterloo takes less than half an hour.

For those who value nightlife over green space Network Homes is launching BRX on Stockwell Road, less than half a mile from Brixton station, on March 9.

The scheme has 100 new homes with balconies, set round a communal open space (networkhomessales.co.uk), and all the bars, pubs and clubs of Brixton on the doorstep.

Families could look to Mitcham, in deepest south London, where Redrow will launch three-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouses at Millfields (redrow.co.uk) from £575,000.

They have garages and back gardens, and commuters can travel from either Hackbridge or Mitcham Junction to Blackfriars and Victoria in less than 25 minutes.
