Presenter Michaela Strachan has said her two dogs had seizures after they accidentally consumed crystal meth in South Africa.

The former BBC One Countryfile host, who now lives in Cape Town, was devastated when her pets Rio and Timmy were poorly after suffering with suspected crystal meth poisoning.

Over the weekend, the Springwatch star, 55, said she had to nurse her dogs through “shakes, twitching, vomiting, peeing, disorientation and paranoia”.

She wrote: “It’s been a rough night! Had to nurse my dogs through a hectic Tik trip (Crystal meth drug).

“Vet reckons they ate human poo from a tik user.Had to nurse them through shakes, twitching, vomiting, peeing, disorientation & paranoia. Now through the worst of it. You couldn’t make it up!”

Her dogs made a full recovery.

The TV presenter posted a video of the pair on Instagram enjoying a walk on the beach on Monday and she said they were “back to their old selves”.

She added: “Rio and Timmy on the beach and back to their old selves. Tails wagging, noses wet, tongues out and chasing seaweed. Seemingly none the worse for their guest appearance in Breaking Bad! Thank you for all your comments and support. Weird experience!”
