The house Meghan Markle rented in Toronto while she was filming the TV legal drama series Suits has been listed for sale for £811,000 ($1,395,000).

Prince Harry is said to have been a frequent visitor at the former home of the American actress during her stay, with neighbours reporting regular recent sightings of the famous young royal and his security team.

Interested buyers need to be vetted to view the three-bedroom house in Toronto's Seaton Village, thanks to the global furore surrounding the most famous engaged couple in the world.

Spread across three levels, the spacious property has three bedrooms on the top floor, separate living and dining rooms and a kitchen opening out to a paved garden.

There's also a large family room on the lower-ground floor and a garage with two parking spaces.

Clearly fond of her Canadian retreat, Meghan frequently used the hashtag #theresnoplacelikehome when posting interiors pictures of her cosy home on her social media accounts.

Onwards and upwards
Following her engagement to Prince Harry in early December, the TV star and entrepreneur has now swapped her Toronto base for rather grander surroundings.

Removal vans were recently spotted parking up outside Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace, shipping in the prized possessions of the future Duchess.

Prince Harry spent his early years at Kensington Palace and he is understood to have moved back there in 2012.

Harry initially lived next door to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in a small apartment dubbed "the royal bedsit" due to its meagre facilities.

When William and Kate upgraded to Apartment 1A in 2013, Harry took over the house they had been living in, Nottingham Cottage, which is one of the smallest properties on the Kensington Palace estate, with two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and bathroom.

Who else lives in Kensington Palace?

There are six apartments housing the Duke and Duchess of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, all aged over 70.

Princess Eugenie reportedly moved into next-door Ivy Cottage last year.

William and Kate have added their personal stamp to the buildings

The royal family has owned Kensington Palace since 1689 and it's rare for a monarch to live there without putting their own stamp on the complex of buildings and grounds.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who moved to the palace in 2013, are no different.

Their four-storey home, Apartment 1A, formerly lived in by Princess Margaret, was renovated by William and Kate in 2011 at a reported cost of £4.5 million.

They created a contemporary open-plan layout and reduced the number of rooms from 30 to 22 to include two nurseries, three kitchens and offices for several of Princess Diana’s charities.

Plans for a 16,000sq ft, two-storey basement in the grounds of Kensington Palace to house offices for 100 members of staff were submitted for approval to Kensington and Chelsea council in March this year.

Princess Diana is arguably most closely associated with Kensington Palace. She lived there from after her wedding to Prince Charles in 1981 until her death in 1997.

The couple combined Apartments 8 and 9 – originally built by King George I for his mistress – and princes William and Harry grew up there. The apartments have since been re-split into two and house offices for charities and staff.
