Most expensive street in London: homes on the capital's priciest street cost 68 times the UK average house price

The average price of a home on Britain’s most expensive street is £15.6 million – 68 times higher than the cost of an average home in the country.

Residential properties on Ilchester Place in Holland Park, west London, were the most expensive in the country, according to research from Lloyds Bank.

The residential enclave of streets around Ilchester Place, W14, are home to an array of A-listers including Robbie Williams, Jimmy Page, David and Victoria Beckham, and Simon Cowell.

A house on the street itself, which borders Holland Park, was found to ‘earn’ £130 an hour, more than six times the average Londoner, having risen in value by nearly £10 million in eight years.

The second most expensive residential street was Eaton Square in Belgravia, with an average price of £13.7 million.

Last year, the exclusive street was third on the list. However, prices on the street are still well below the 2016 average of £16.6 million.

Knightsbridge, home to Harrods department store, came third, with an average price of £13.4 million.

Of the ten most expensive streets in Britain, seven had an average house price over £11 million, while nine were in the London boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea or Westminster.

The tenth most expensive street in Britain was Camp End Road in the St George’s Hill area in Surrey. There’s a popular golf club and tennis club in the area, which is home to Ringo Starr.

While London and the South East dominated the top of the chart, every region in the country now boasts at least one street of property millionaires.

“Although half of the 20 most expensive streets are in London, regions across England and Wales now all have at least one million pound street,” said Andrew Mason, mortgage director at Lloyds Bank.

“In total there are 76 of these prestigious addresses across the country.”

The notoriously pricey seaside area of Sandbanks in Poole, Dorset, was home to the most expensive street in the South West, with homes costing £2.6 million on Panorama Road. King of the I’m a Celebrity jungle, Harry Redknapp, is one of many celebrities who own homes in the area.

The footballer favourite of Alderley Edge in Cheshire boasted the most expensive street in the North West. Homes on Congleton Road cost £2.3 million.

Storeys Way in Cambridge, where homes cost an average £2.28 million was East Anglia’s most expensive street.

Rising Lane (£1.9 million) in Solihull, West Midlands; Fulwith Mill Lane (£1.63 million) in Harrogate, Yorkshire and Humber; Cour D’Honneur (£1.5 million) in Burley, Oakham in the East Midlands; and Runnymede Road (£1.09 million) in Newcastle, North East were the remaining chart toppers in each region.

Wales had just one £1 million street – Llys Helyg Drive in Llandudno, where the average house cost £1.12 million.
