A six-storey mega-mansion in Britain’s most expensive street has gone on sale for £35 million.

The property is in Ilchester Place, Holland Park, where the average house price is £17.2 million — more than 70 times the UK average.

The seven-bedroom house is on the market after a two-and-a-half-year renovation added a double basement extension — one of the last in Kensington & Chelsea before a ban in 2015 — with 16-metre pool, spa and gym hidden two levels below the landscaped garden.

Other Holland Park residents include the Beckhams, Robbie Williams and Jimmy Page.

The mansion has a subterranean family room and kitchen with four-metre-high ceilings, a games room snug and a 120-bottle wine cellar.

The house is on the north side of Ilchester Place meaning it backs directly on to Holland Park.

“The buyers will be able to enjoy a green open space they might have previously thought only moving to the countryside could offer,” said Pete Bevan of Savills which is selling the property with Knight Frank.

The “absolute best in class” property has attracted interest and received offers since it was put on the market in June, according to Adam Hunter of Goldenstone, the developer behind the renovation.

A floating stone staircase leads from the formal reception room down to the main living space, where an internal courtyard is bordered by floor-to-ceiling glass doors and an artificial green fern wall.

The property’s four storeys above ground include staff accommodation; a master bedroom with marble fireplace, two en-suite bathrooms and a central dressing room; and six further double bedrooms – all linked by a second feature staircase or a lift that runs through the centre of the home.
