The Compton is a new Art Deco-style mansion block moments from St John’s Wood’s two most famous landmarks — Regent’s Park and Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Low-rise, lateral living is the hallmark of this area, and this latest scheme of 49 apartments raises the bar.

The building features a series of curved, projecting bays clad in recycled cast aluminium and decorated with intricate leaf-motif embossed panels, providing a striking visual identity from the street.

By designing apartments that lead directly off the building’s central core, Simon Bowden Architects has maximised living spaces (including balconies), while at roof level there are penthouses with generous-size private terraces.

There is also a communal garden. Interiors are by Kelly Hoppen.

Prices are from £1.1million. Call 020 3151 5287.

Cricket fans will be interested to know that Regal London, the developer, has also acquired a plot overlooking Lord’s for a 12-storey block of 112 apartments.
