Supermodel Kendall Jenner has opened the doors of her surprisingly eclectic, Mediterranean-inspired home following a year-long renovation after first purchasing the property from actor Charlie Sheen for £6.5 million in 2017.

A new interview and house tour with Architectural Digest reveals that the 6,625sq ft hideaway in the hills of Los Angeles is far from the minimalist signature style showcased in the rest of the Kardashian clan's homes.

Working with celebrity interior designers Waldo Fernandez and mother-and-son duo Kathleen and Tommy Clements, Jenner has filled her home with unusual contemporary artworks and installations, including a chromatic egg-shaped wall sculpture by light artist James Turrell. Titled “Scorpious”, the show-stopping piece has pride of place in the entrance hall, where the model meditates in front of it.

In the sitting room off her main bedroom, a Tracey Emin-designed neon sign with measurements and a slogan adorns an entire wall.

"I'm pretty sure that the measurements are an ex-boyfriend of Tracey Emin's penis size and the message at the bottom is to his new girlfriend, which reads 'I'm glad to hear your a happy girl'," laughs Jenner.

A relaxed farmhouse-y vibe

The decor in many of the living rooms has a shabby-chic vibe, with mismatched cushions, rustic furniture and a farmhouse-style kitchen with striking teal cabinets and hanging copper pans.

'My life involves a lot of chaos and travel and high energy, so I wanted a home that feels serene, a place where I can simply zone out and relax," says Jenner.

"I'm not a huge party person. There aren't a lot of ragers going on here. I like turning on music, lighting the fireplace and candles."

The formal living room is minimal and earthy, with wooden ceiling beams and a fireplace - but no TV.

The room originally designed as a home cinema was rarely used, so that has become a dedicated art studio where Jenner indulges her love of painting.

“Her taste was surprising, more bohemian and funky than the rest of her family. The mood she described was totally understated and down-to-earth,” said Tommy Clements during the interview with Architectural Digest.

"Being who she is, we thought Kendall might gravitate toward something more flashy, more va-va-voom. I think we were all thrilled to discover that she has taste beyond her years," said Tommy's mother and design partner, Kathleen Clements.

However, there are plenty of luxurious touches that hint at this being the home of reportedly the world's highest paid supermodel. Marble surfaces feature in the kitchen, as well as on the wall of an enviable bar nook that is cleverly tucked away in a corner. In the main bathroom, which is larger than most one-bedroom flats in London, sits a solid gold freestanding bathtub.

The walls in one of the bathrooms had to be restructured to be able to hold a stone sink that Jenner says weighs around 300lb.

She has also converted two of the five bedrooms into a cavernous walk-in-wardrobe style fitting room, and a “glam room” with framed magazine covers featuring herself and her celebrity sisters.

"I'm really proud of what we accomplished here," says Jenner. "This is the first home I've done completely and I think it's a genuine reflection of who I am and what I like."
