Fans of Game of Thrones take note. As the fantasy series returns for its eighth and final season, a real life Westeros or Castle Black could be yours to live out your fantasies from the show in real life.

In both the UK and further afield, there are plenty of properties that fans of the HBO show can buy now, from a Winterfell-style castle to an imposing Victorian barracks building set up to keep enemies away.

With the show’s recent return to our screens, more people than ever will be hankering after one of these GoT-worthy homes.

A real life Winterfell

Take inspiration from the house of Stark and invest in your very own castle.

Earlshall Castle, in St Andrews, is a 10-bedroom 16th century property that comes with its very own protection against the white walkers. Musket loops and smaller windows are strategically placed within the castle to guard against approaching armies.

One of the most intriguing features of the castle is that it was built with large windows rather than the narrow slit windows that were usually used for defence in those days.

Built in 1546, the castle takes its name from the hunting lodge of ‘The Erlishall’ owned by the Earls of Fife, relatives of King Robert de Bruce.

The breathtaking property has also played host to some historic monarchs. Mary Queen of Scots visited Earlshall in 1561, while King James I also made the trip to hunt at the plush property.

The castle is for sale through Savills, price on application.

A home on King's Landing

A six-bedroom luxury hotel in Dubrovnik where Game of Thrones was filmed

Straight out of King’s Landing is this luxury six-bedroom hotel in Dubrovnik.

Situated on a jagged rockface and close to the old city walls, this Croatian fortress overlooks the sea and was even used as a filming location for the show, so expect tourists to be flocking to this luxury location.

The hotel has six studio apartments, each with their own kitchens and it has been fully renovated throughout.

The fortress is for sale through Adrionika, for £1.5 million.

A castle fit for the Lannisters

Five-bedroom Castell Gyrn is set in 10 acres of countryside

Overlooking the Clwyd valley and Snowdon in North Wales, Castell Gyrn is one for fans of the Lannisters.

Similar to Casterly Rock, the ancestral home of the Lannisters which sits in a high and commanding position, the five-bedroom property is set in 10 acres of countryside and features design details by renowned architect John Taylor.

Set in an area of outstanding beauty and just outside the popular market town of Ruthin, the castle also features a suit of armour and coat of arms in the hallway.

And if that's not enough to entice prospective buyers, there's also a fire-breathing dragon carved from a 200-year-old tree to ward off approaching armies.

Constructed in four phases from 1977 to 1994, the property also boasts a large dining room and main formal living room.

Castell Gyrn is for sale for £2 million. Through Hinchcliffe Homes.

Grade-II listed fortress for sale

£1 million: this 20-sided stone fort is in need of renovation

If a Grade-II listed fort is more up your street, this Victorian barracks and 20-sided stone fort is surrounded by a dry moat ideal for keeping enemies away.

Resembling Castle Black, the headquarters of the Night Watch, The Defensible Barracks was built in the 1840s to house the Royal Marines.

The Pembrokeshire property features plenty of original character details, a fortified gatehouse and planning permission for a hotel and separate coffee shop, but it is in need of renovation, as some parts are derelict.

On one side of the quad, modern apartments have been added and there is plenty of scope for development for the right owners, while some of the gardens have been landscaped.

It’s for sale for £1 million. Through Purple Bricks.

A fairytale castle for sale

£2.5 million: A fairytale castle with views for miles

Meanwhile, in the Mallorcan countryside, a fairytale castle in need of some work could be yours.

Similar to Game of Thrones’s Highgarden, the Tyrell family’s property, be inspired by the golden roses and tropical views of this spectacular property close to the coastline.

Bell Esguard also features a Neo Gothic tower, turrets and gargoyles and is close to the centre of Sóller.

It’s for sale through Engel & Voelkers, for £2.5 million.

A luxury estate

Luggala Lodge has played host to some cultural icons

Known for its dramatic landscape, Riverrun is the former seat of House Tully, now ruled by House Frey in the HBO show.

For those looking for their own Riverrun, 18th century Luggala Lodge is set in extremely picturesque Irish countryside with a Gothic Revival design.

The grand estate features 10 houses in total, a private lake and is set in 5,000 acres of land. It was originally gifted from Arthur Guinness to his daughter Luggala.

The scenic property has welcomed celebrities as diverse as writers Seamus Heaney and Robert Graves, and rockstars Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson.

The seven-bedroom country house and estate is for sale with Sotheby’s, for £24.1 million.

A period style castle in the Irish countryside

Modern An Culu is designed in a period style

Meanwhile, on the Irish coast, and featuring panoramic views over Kenmare Bay, this coastal castle reminiscent of House Arryn’s The Eyrie, An Culu is a unique property approached by a drawbridge for the ultimate castle style living.

Surrounded by a moat, the modern castle is designed in a period style and also features a castellated archway and turrets.

£14.6 million: this luxury chalet is the ultimate set up for escaping the elements

Chalet Rocher, in Val d’Isere, has been carved from natural rock and provides the ultimate set up for those wanting to escape the elements.

The seven-bedroom chalet also has a cosy indoor swimming pool, steam room and roaring log fire for the ultimate in luxury for its potential buyers.
