If there’s something familiar about Grade II-listed Hampermill House in Watford, it may be because it has appeared in TV’s Holby City and Midsomer Murders, along with a more substantial role in Mike Leigh’s 2014 film Mr Turner, starring Timothy Spall when it passed for Romantic landscape painter JMW Turner’s home in Cheyne Walk, Chelsea.

The four-bedroom house, in more than two acres with a heated swimming pool and space for 20 cars on the drive, dates from around 1770.

Owners Peter and Gloria Thompson have enjoyed being extras in some of the shows filmed there.

They initially let the house as a film location to help pay for renovations but had so much fun they kept the “sideline” going.

However, they are now downsizing and Hampermill House is for sale with Savills for £1,675,000.
