Simon Cowell has been granted planning permission to install a 15-metre outdoor swimming pool at his house in south-west London.

The music mogul and Britain’s Got Talent judge, who bought the 18th-century mansion for about £15 million two years ago, is keen to add some modern features.

Council planners have agreed that these can go ahead, with a new pool house and bar as part of the package.

Other amendments to the seven-bedroom property will include new lighting, underfloor heating, top-notch security and air conditioning.

Cowell, his partner Lauren Silverman and their six-year-old son, Eric, split their time between London and Los Angeles.

They are spending lockdown in Malibu but can get the ball rolling for changes to their UK home.
