A flat named after Hollywood star Robert Downey Jr is for sale in Crystal Palace.

The two-bedroom home is one of six in a warehouse scheme called Block Lockdown, with each flat inspired by celebrities who had a run-in with the law. Hence the link with the Iron Man actor, who did time in the Nineties for drug possession.

The front doors of the flats are reclaimed jail doors, and other stars featured include Elvis Presley, who was cleared of misconduct after a fight in the Fifties, and Steve McQueen, who was convicted of reckless driving in the Seventies.

The Downey flat bears a framed copy of his mugshot.

Despite the bizarre theme, the loft-style space has a cool interior with exposed brickwork, steel beams and industrial-style wiring.

Downey lives in a 19th-century windmill folly in The Hamptons, so this quirky flat might appeal. It’s £500,000 through Purple Bricks.
