Interiors king Nicky Haslam, a great chum of David Cameron’s mother-in-law Annabel Astor, did the décor at this one-bedroom, second-floor flat in a glorious period building in St James’s, piling on the gold and installing a large theatrical spotlight mirror in the bathroom with his signature flamboyant style.

French doors lead to an ornamental balcony with views along Ryder Street to St James’s Street.

The flat’s for sale with Savills for £995,000 and the buyer could add Haslam’s furniture.

The designer to rock royalty and aristos is selling the contents of his Hampshire National Trust-owned home at a Bonhams auction next month.
