A Fitzrovia house which used to be the home of the Magic Circle – “the premier society in the fascinating world of magic and illusion” – is for sale.

As part of the club’s theatre room, the property in Chenies Mews saw many high-profile guests including Prince Charles.

Originally built as a stable for Camden carriage horses, in 1968 it replaced the organisation’s Hearts of Oak premises in Euston Road, which had been demolished due to road widening two years earlier.

In 1998 the Magic Circle moved into its current location — a purpose-built headquarters in Euston.

Listed at £2 million with Savills, the two-bedroom Chenies Mews house has a private patio and would be magical for central London living.
