Save my local pub: Game of Thrones star Charles Dance does battle for his Kentish Town boozer

Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance is attempting to save his local Kentish Town pub from becoming a mini-supermarket.

The British screen star, who has just finished filming Godzilla: King of the Monsters, wants to stop the former Leighton Arms in Brecknock Road becoming a Nisa convenience store.

Dance is among protesters who handed in a petition to the town hall in a meeting with Holborn and St Pancras MP Sir Keir Starmer, who is also shadow Brexit Secretary.

Camden council has issued an enforcement notice for work at the building to be reversed.

The site owner can appeal but if an appeal fails, they will have three months to return the building to its former state

Planning permission was given in 2015 for two new houses in the beer garden. The properties are now built but instead of reopening the pub, Bryanston Investments signed a lease with Nisa.

Dance has called the plans completely unnecessary and says he is backing the community’s attempt to stop them.
