US chat show queen Ellen DeGeneres and her Australian actress wife Portia de Rossi have knocked £6.4million off the price of their Santa Barbara estate.

First listed earlier this year for £39.9million, the Californian villa now has a reduced price of £29.5million.

Built by noted American architect Wallace Frost for his family in the Thirties, the home was restored decades later by architectural and interior designer John Saladino as part of a meticulous project lasting five years.

DeGeneres and de Rossi snapped up the villa in 2013, then expanded the estate by buying two adjacent properties to make a total of almost 17 acres in the picturesque hills of Santa Barbara.

The couple spared no expense in modernising the space for a relaxed lifestyle.
