The Chelsea house where Mary Poppins author PL Travers lived for more than 30 years is for sale.

In Shawfield Street, SW3, it was frequently visited by Emma Thompson, seeking inspiration as she prepared to play Travers in the film Saving Mr Banks (2013), co-starring Tom Hanks.

The property features in a number of key scenes in the movie.

Walt Disney visited Travers there to persuade her to sell the film rights of Mary Poppins to him for $100,000 plus a percentage of the box office profits.

The elegant four-bedroom house with three terraces, five entertaining spaces and a lovely garden, has recently been refurbished and is listed with Russell Simpson for £4.85 million.
