Singer Ariana Grande has pleaded with Rihanna to “pls drop her album” and reclaim her title, after breaking the Fenty Beauty founder’s streaming record. Grande shared a screenshot of a @chartdata tweet, which announced Grande as “the most streamed female artist of all-time on Spotify” - blowing past Rihanna’s 20.5 billion stream record.

Grande responded “holy s**t” and thanked her fans for “listening and caring” to her music. She added, “now can rihanna pls drop her album so she can rightfully snatch this back and fill my ears again please or…”

Rihanna has kept fans waiting for new music ever since she released her eighth album Anti in 2016, choosing to focus on her businesses Fenty Beauty, lingerie brand Savage x Fenty and luxury fashion line Fenty.

Her various endeavours earned her the title of world’s richest female musician according to Forbes.

While she probably doesn’t need to drop another album at this point, her loyal fanbase (nicknamed the Navy) have constantly asked Rihanna for a release date - leading the singer to publicly tease fans and promising the new album would be “worth the wait."

In contrast, Grande has worked overtime on new music - dropping Sweetener and Thank U, Next less than a year apart.

Beyond her own studio albums, she also recently collaborated with Lady Gaga on a song titled Rain On Me, however Lady Gaga recently revealed she accidentally “shanked” Grande in the eye with a nail while they were filming its music video.
