This year has seen a raft of exciting new British trends, brand launches and inspirational designs - but what should we be keeping our eyes peeled for when it comes to the latest talent from overseas?

At the recent Maison&Objet international interiors and lifestyle trade fair in Paris, the US was firmly in the spotlight with some ground-breaking designs.

From furniture to lighting and everything in between, we’ve picked three of the best US talents to watch out for over here…

1. Hudson Valley Lighting

Already leading the way in the American lighting market, Hudson Valley Lighting is just launching in the UK, showcasing trend-led pieces meeting the high quality expected by anyone familiar with the brand.

Split into four categories (Hudson Valley Lighting, Corbett Lighting, Troy Lighting and Mitzi), these are pieces that make a statement - and there were plenty of unusual designs to make us ooh and aah.

Price-wise, they aren’t the cheapest out there, as you’d expect for this quality. However, the Mitzi range carries a slightly lower price point, making high design more attainable.

Look out for crystals, agate and sleek black-metal pendants mixed with gold leaf, plus a wide range of wall lights. Stunning.

2. Kin & Company

Take two cousins, one a trained architect, the other an interior designer, and what do you get?

Kin & Company is the result of Joseph Vidich and Kira de Paola joining forces to produce sculptural, lifelike pieces for the home, from tables to lighting and hanging mobiles, that have been gaining much-deserved attention in the States.

The duo’s latest collection is inspired by overlapping circles, arcs and planes of Russian Constructivism and features dramatic transformations of steel, stone and glass – well worth checking out.

3. Bailey Fontaine

Specialising in beautiful sculptural furniture, Bailey Fontaine is a young designer whose pieces are proving popular with those who, like him, are drawn to straight lines and natural formations.

So, what can you expect to see? Well, Fontaine works with various materials, sometimes in a rather unexpected way, from dining tables with thin cement layers stacked and curved like sheets of rolled dough, to slimline concrete floor lamps with a simple circular curved top.

Nominated for the Rising Talent Awards 2019, we think this young designer is certainly one to watch.
