From tropical palm leaves to pretty floral prints, it seems the high street — and social media — can't get enough of foliage-themed interiors.

Photo sharing website Pinterest has reported a surge in users pinning botanical-inspired homeware with saves up by 75 per cent globally in the past month.

But if the thought of trying to keep something alive fills you with dread, take inspiration instead and decorate your home with an abundance of botanical prints.

Awarded best home décor, DIY and interior design across the country at the Pinterest UK Interior Awards 2018, interior designers and founders of 2LG Studio, Russell Whitehead and Jordan Cluroe explain why they're keen on filling their home with greenery — and why it makes the perfect Instagram fodder.

"As interior designers, we find that living in our homes is increasingly about wellbeing and happiness. Plants not only purify the air in your home but they put a smile on your face. You can even develop emotional attachments to them. We certainly have a soft spot for our own fiddle leaf fig tree."

"It is easy to see why houseplants and botanical prints are making a big impression in interiors at the moment. They connect you to nature and create huge impact quickly, in any space whether rented or owned, and that appeals to a wide range of people."

"The interiors scene is growing fast on social media and plants make such great visuals for platforms like instagram and pinterest, so it is no wonder house plants have made a comeback...they are so photogenic!"
