We’re already tired of hearing “new year, new you”. You are still the same “you” and we all want those health and fitness goals to last the whole year, not just till February.

So we’ve sought out the latest smart technology to support your training, indoors and out - and also to boost your healthy-eating resolutions.

Everything here has been picked with Londoners particularly in mind, to save time, space and/or money – but no matter where you live, you’ll benefit.

Rebel Ride Live

1Rebel is a cool-as-clubbing fitness studio with six London sites.

You can now enjoy its sessions conveniently at home using your own Technogym bike for £39 a month, streamed from the Victoria studio.

What’s more, you can subscribe for £99 a month and get a state-of-the-art Technogym bike, worth £2,450, as well as enjoying unlimited streamed lessons from their trainers. The bike is yours to keep after 36 months.

Garmin Venu

This smartwatch can track your activity, set daily goals and help you tackle sleep problems.

It’s waterproof, so it tracks swimming, too, and everything is automatically synced with the Garmin Connect app.

A built-in coach can help you aim for 5k, 10k or more. Built-in animated on-screen workouts include cardio, strength, yoga and Pilates and you can download more via the app. Breathing exercises aid relaxation. It can even track hydration.

All this and smart alerts to calls, messages and more if you want them... so you look at your phone less.

Bowflex SelectTech Kettlebell

Kettlebells lend themselves to a healthy mix of cardiovascular, strength and flexibility training, with exercises that swing the weight not just lift it.

But you'll need multiple kettlebells because slow, sustained "grind" exercises need lighter weights than required for lifts and swings.

The clever Bowflex is a great way to reduce clutter because it combines six different weights in one. Simply turn the dial to select 3.5, 5.5, 9, 11, 16 or 18kg. Lift it off and the excess weight is left in the base.

The space-saving design leaves you with more room to work out.

Bowflex Max Trainer M8

The first home exercise equipment to use Artificial Intelligence, the M8 designs custom workouts that adjust to your performance and how you’re feeling.

You get real-time feedback and expert guidance.

With seven built-in programs and 20 resistance levels, the M8 combines the benefits of an elliptical trainer and a stepper but has a smaller footprint than either, saving space.

Wheels are built in for moving it around.

Auster Master: a gym in a bag

A gym in a bag, this space-saving Auster Master set of suspension training straps and resistance bands lets you work out pretty much anywhere, indoors or out.

A free app teaches you more than 100 suspension, bodyweight and functional training exercises to get the most from the equipment. At home, the Bone Anchor is designed to be attached to any door and is fitted with rubber to protect the door and frame. Then connect Straps, Dynamic Bands and Power Rings to resist or assist you in various exercises.

DribbleUp Smart Soccer Ball

Bring your – or your child’s – football training indoors. It sounds like a bold move that will result in breakages, but this smart ball and app give you exercises on screen to encourage precise control of footwork and dribbling. The training is best enjoyed on a TV screen.

The ball comes with a stand for phone or tablet because the DribbleUp app uses its camera to track the ball and your performance. The app features hundreds of workouts for many hours of training, with programs for players at every level.

Virtual coaches teach skills and set you challenges. Priced from £85. Visit dribbleup.com.

Elite Novo Smart Turbo Trainer

If you already own a bicycle, a turbo trainer will transform it into indoor exercise equipment, saving you space and money. This affordable model uses Bluetooth to connect wirelessly to smartphone, tablet or PC, to monitor your performance and automatically adjust resistance. This lets it realistically simulate slopes up to six per cent.

Simply attach the turbo trainer to your bike’s rear wheel and then set up a phone or tablet near the handlebars. The Elite Novo is compatible with apps such as Zwift, an affordable way to make training fun by turning it into an immersive game where you ride on rolling terrain with hundreds of others.

Sage 3X Bluicer Pro

It’s hard to pick the best kitchen appliance for a health kick: juicer or blender? This unique new product from Sage does both, with one base and two interchangeable tops giving you the best of both worlds and saving worktop space.

A large 1.5-litre jug with three-litre pulp bin and an extra-large 88mm feed chute means you can juice large quantities of whole fruits and vegetables. Its cold-spin design ensures temperature rises by no more than 1°C in the juicing process, preserving nutrients.

Meanwhile, the blender uses the same 1.5-litre jug to make healthy smoothies, crush ice and even turn out amazing frozen cocktails. You can also use it to make smooth dips, sauces, nut butters and nut milks. It has 10 speeds and an auto clean function, plus it’s dishwasher safe.

Cambridge Audio Melomania 1: wireless headphones

The perfect wireless headphones for a workout, these are handy on a commute, too, but the lack of noise cancellation means traffic on a busy road will drown out the top notes. In the gym, however, they’re fantastic because the tiny bullet shape sits neatly in the ear, with no external clutter. They come with a selection of ear tips to find the best fit.

Outdoors for a run, the sound is good. You can hear just enough of the world around you to feel safe. Battery life is nine hours but that’s topped up whenever they’re stowed in the compact travel case, giving you 45 hours total.

Tangram Smart Rope

Skipping rope? There’s an app for that. It may sound absurd, but there’s novel technology built into this hi-tech skipping rope that will encourage you to use it more. Predictably, it’s a smart device that connects wirelessly to a free phone app to track your performance.

You don’t need to count because the app does it for you. It also tracks calories burned, workout time and interval training.

Less predictably, there are 23 LEDs built into the rope itself, cleverly used to display your jump count in midair in front of you – up to four digits – the virtual display giving you constant motivation to keep going. Can you get past 9,999?
