Christmas brings with it festive cheer, often in the shape of a novelty alcohol blend. Some of these border on the bonkers — hello alcoholic mince pie latte — but some are downright delicious.

But how do you navigate between the two? Luckily, we've done the dirty work so you won't embarrass yourself by gifting some appalling concoction to your friends, or worse, yourself.

Lidl has launched a Gingerbread Gin Liqueur. Priced at £9.99, it boasts notes of cinnamon, vanilla, orange and ginger.

Enjoy it on the rocks or mixed in a highball glass with a splash of tonic water.

The gin renaissance shows no sign of slowing down and now winery Chapel Down have released their own gin, priced at £35.

It's made from distilled Bacchus grapes and infused with a variety of botanicals including juniper, coriander, elderflower and lavender, among other things.

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without some fizz. Nicolas Feuillatte's rose champagne is great for a special occasion with redcurrant, blueberry and raspberry notes.

Finally, Marks & Spencer's ready mixed Jaffa Cake cocktail, priced at £10 and found in store, is great for those with a sweet tooth.

Made with rum, pour it over ice and serve it with garnish of orange for a finishing touch.
