There have been rumours circulating around that Epic Games is looking to, or plans to, introduce a Wolverine skin to Fornite at some point.

At the moment, it remains unknown if this was a scrapped plan or if it's going to be added for the new season, but a recent tweet has thrown some gas on the rumour fire fuelling this topic.

The rumour began its life after Twitter user Hypex, who has leaked reliable Fortnite-related news and secrets before, tweeted that Epic Games might be introducing Wolverine-themed cosmetics to the game.

Hypex said Wolverine's trademark claws would be added as a pickaxe skin and there would also be a cosmetic based on his comic book and old cartoon appearance — in all his bright-yellow glory.

Hypex claimed this information was from a 'very trustworthy source', and while this isn't much to go on, it is not very far out of the realm of possibility when it comes to Fortnite.

Deadpool appeared in the game last season and Captain America has also been in Fortnite before. It would make sense to add Wolverine, who is arguably the most popular X-Men character to the battle royale.

It is currently thought that like Deadpool and now Aquaman, Wolverine might be the secret skin for Season 4 or it will just appear in Fortnite's in-game store.

Epic Games seems to currently be working with both DC and Marvel, having just recently acquired a collaboration with DC to add in the Joker and other classic skins to the game very soon, along with theming its entire Season 3 around Aquaman.

Of course, the Wolverine rumours should be taken with a generous pinch of salt. Hypex emphasised that this was a 'possible leak', and it could entirely point to an idea which either fell through for Epic Games or was scrapped entirely.

At the moment, Fortnite is well into Season 3 which has finally revealed the entire map after it was flooded with water.

In other battle royale news, Apex Legends will be launching its sixth season tomorrow, Tuesday, August 18, adding a brand-new and long-rumoured legend Rampart.
