Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang promises 'crazy' Arsenal partnership with Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has promised Arsenal fans they will be in for a treat when he finally lines up alongside Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe.

The Gunners made the perfect start to their Premier League campaign, beating Newcastle 1-0 yesterday thanks to Aubameyang’s 58th-minute goal.

Neither Lacazette nor Pepe started the match because of fitness issues, although the latter did play the final 19 minutes.

Arsenal fans are naturally eager to see new signing Pepe play alongside Aubameyang and Lacazette as part of a £175million front three.

And Aubameyang has promised supporters it will be worth the wait when they finally get to see the trio in action together.

“I don’t want to compare it [to other strike partnerships I have been a part of] but it is going to be crazy,” said Aubameyang.

“Everybody is excited about that. We will have time to play together and we will see. I am looking forward to it.

“The next game we play at home [against Burnley on Saturday] and we will see what is the coach’s decision. It will be difficult for him [to fit us all in] but that’s the game. When you have a good team it is like that and you have to make choices.”

Pepe’s arrival sparked excitement among Arsenal’s fan base but it was also apparent within the club’s playing squad. Aubameyang and Lacazette posted photos on Instagram in which they copied Pepe’s goal celebration.

The pair developed a brilliant strike partnership last season — scoring 35 Premier League goals in total — but Aubameyang says they are now ready to welcome Pepe into the fold.

“We are happy because we know he can help us to reach our goals,” said the Gabon international. “So it is another weapon for us and that is very good. When I play as the striker I am happy but if the team needs help and I play wide, then I will do it.

“I have watched him [Pepe] on TV. I know how he plays and we have tried to connect with him in training. For the moment it is going very good.”

Arsenal won yesterday without Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac, who were left out of the squad because of “further security fears” after they were targeted by carjackers.

Aubameyang said: “We send them messages [of support].”
