Love Island dedicates series finale to former host Caroline Flack

Laura Whitmore emotionally declared that Sunday night's Love Island finale was dedicated to Caroline Flack in a segment which aired near the start of the show.

Flack's death at the age of 40 has cast a shadow over the last week of the week of the winter series.

Sunday's live episode opened with the final couples being introduced and after a short clip of their last day in the villa, Whitmore delivered the tribute to camera.

"The past week has been extremely difficult coming to terms with the death of our friend Caroline," she said. "She loved Love Island and she loved to love, which is why tonight's final is dedicated to her."

A video montage of Flack entering the villa and hosting spin-off show Aftersun then played.

Love Island previously paid tribute to Flack when the first episode since her death aired on Monday.

A clip of idyllic beaches paiid as narrator iain Stirling delivered kind words on the star, who he also counted as a close friend.

The show was taken off air for two nights in the wake of her death, with the Unseen Bits show and one regular episode being pulled last Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Whitmore paid tribute to Flack live on her BBC Radio 5Live show, speaking less than 24 hours after Flack's death was confirmed.

"I'm going to carry on today and get through this show as that's what Caroline would say to do," she said. "Caroline, I'm so sad for you, for your family.

"I'm angry that you saw this as your only option as I know how much love and support you had. I'm sorry you didn't know that."

"I'm not sure when but I know I'll see you on the dancefloor again."
