As the nation enters its second month of lockdown, many of us have turned to the television for comfort – and there’s been no better distraction than Gemma Collins’ Diva On Lockdown.
The ITVBe show has followed the 39-year-old as she copes with the coronavirus crisis in her own unique way, resulting in plenty of laughs and a shedload more ‘memays’ for viewers.
And the GC, who already has some lockdown experience thanks to her legendary stay in the Celebrity Big Brother house back in 2016, believes she deserves an OBE for her services to entertainment during the pandemic.
The idea came to her on Sunday night’s finale of Diva On Lockdown as she discussed Captain Tom Moore, who raised over £30 million for the NHS.
“At 99 years old, walking round the garden,” she said to her sister-in-law Dawn. “He deserves to be knighted.
“The thing is, I’ve done my bit for the nation. Wonder if in years to come, I’ll be getting an OBE from the Queen?”
She then decided to ring her assistant, Daisy, after referencing Victoria Beckham’s OBE, which the singer received in 2017

“I need an OBE from the Queen at some point because I have entertained the nation during corona,” she said. “If you could sort something out, writing to HRH and try and stick me up for it at some point, I’d be very appreciative.”
Collins herself decided to donate £1000 to Captain Tom, who was promoted to the rank of honorary Colonel on his 100th birthday.
Elsewhere in the episode, Collins found herself tearing up as she listened to Captain Tom and Michael Ball's rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone.
