Brodie Retallick calls for more All Blacks edge in 'do or die' Lions decider

Brodie Retallick has called for more “edge” from the All Blacks.

In the First Test, which the hosts dominated, lock Retallick was a star performer, coming hard into contact and flipping away a few offloads.

However, they were second best in the collisions on Saturday and now the 2014 World Rugby player of the year has asked for New Zealand to climb back to their own high standards at Eden Park in five days’ time.

“I’ve got no doubt there’s going to be a bit of edge,” said Retallick. “The Lions were a lot more physical and confrontational than they were before. We need to sort that out and make sure we’re back at it.”

The Chiefs second row was also keen to embrace the magnitude of this Saturday’s match, saying: “If you look at it like a World Cup Final, some people may only go to one World Cup, and I guess this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play the Lions and try to win a series against them. I can’t imagine my body will still be hanging in there in 12 years’ time [for the next Lions series]. It’s do or die at one-all.”
