Home improvements: The aerial photo shows the outline of where the new stadium will be located

The new stadium that will give Tottenham the capital's biggest club football venue, is not due to be completed until the 2018/19 season.

But as this aerial photograph taken this week above White Hart Lane shows, the groundwork is well underway.

The picture, taken from the skies above N17, clearly shows the outline of where the new 61,000 capacity-stadium will be located and construction work has begun on the basement for the new arena.

The brown area to the north of White Hart Lane stadium also includes Archway Sheet Metal - the business that Spurs finally reached an agreement with in March after a long dispute.

The metal works building is located roughly where the new stadium's halfway line will be.

Lilywhite House - Tottenham's new staff HQ , Tottenham University Technical College and the capital's largest Sainsbury's are all found in the complex on the far left of the image, which forms phase 1 of the Northumberland Development Project.

However, Tottenham still have more red tape to clear before receiving the go ahead on building the new stadium, which will host two NFL games a year for at least a decade. Plans are to be submitted to Haringey Council, with a decision expected later this year.

Tottenham appointed Populous, the same company behind Arsenal's Emirates stadium and Wimbledon's sliding roof on Centre Court, to design the venue which will include a sliding, retractable pitch.

The complex will also feature an extreme sports centre, cinema, 180-bedroom hotel, visitors' centre and museum.
