Premier League reveal new sleeve badge design for 2016/17 season

New season, new look: The new Premier League branding will be in place from next season, including new sleeve badges.

The Premier League badge that will be worn on the sleeves of shirts next season have been re-designed to match the league’s new branding.

The Premier League revealed the new badges on Wednesday via Twitter, which has a new purple lion logo inside a striped white and grey circle with the words ‘Premier League’ in the bottom left-hand corner.

The badges will be worn by every Premier League team next term, except winners Leicester City, who will wear unique ‘champions’ badges, which are gold instead of purple.

The Foxes' special badge also has the words ‘Champions 15/16’ written on them.

The league’s branding has been re-designed as the sponsorship deal with Barclays, which had been in place since 2001, expired at the end of this season.

The new logo was unveiled in February and features a simplified version of the lion icon from the logo's previous incarnation.

The former logo and sleeve badges have remained essentially the same since the League’s last major rebranding in 2007.
