Chelsea signing Kai Havertz was given an individual training session at the club's Cobham base on Saturday.

The 21-year-old became Frank Lampard's seventh signing of the summer on Friday as he ended what was turning into a saga by signing a five-year deal for an initial £71m, plus various add-ons.

With the majority of the first-team squad away on international duty, Havertz - who left the Germany squad to complete his move - was put through his paces just 24 hours later in an individual session with the Chelsea coaches.

In his absence from the Germany team, it was his new Chelsea team-mate Timo Werner who scored their only goal in a 1-1 Nations League draw with Spain.

Havertz will shortly be joined by his Chelsea team-mates when they return from international duty next week, where they'll begin their preparations a Premier League opening day trip to Brighton.

Frank Lampard will have some selection headaches to overcome, with Havertz making his switch to Stamford Bridge alongside fellow signings Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and teenager Xavier Mbuyamba.

Standard Sport understands Lampard is also targetting a goalkeeper after losing faith in Kepa Arrizabalaga last season.

The Blues have had a £14millin bid for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy rejected but they are expected to return with an improved offer.
