Bayer Leverkusen Head coach Peter Bosz says that he cannot predict if or when ‘the crucial call’ confirming Kai Havertz’s departure will come, but admits his star player has already made up his mind.

Havertz is expected to complete a transfer to Chelsea this summer as Frank Lampard continues to rebuild the squad with Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner already secured.

As with those deals, Chelsea would have liked to have wrapped up Havertz move already to afford him further time to adjust to life in the UK before the 2020-21 season, but Leverkusen will not sanction a deal at present .

That is because they are competing in the Europa League, and hold a 3-1 first leg advantage over Rangers ahead of Thursday’s Last 16 tie.

The move may not be imminent, but it is expected, with Bosz admitting that 21-year-old is handling the pressure well.

"I talk to Kai a lot and try to feel what all this does to him. For example, these daily rumours about transfers," he told Deutschen Presse-Agentur.

"I keep finding that Kai is handling all of this very well. I don't think he will stop playing at 29 [like Andre Schurrle].

"Yes, I know what he wants to do, but of course I'm not going to give it away, it's up to him."

Asked whether a deal is imminent, Bosz added: "I couldn't say. Perhaps the crucial call will come today, maybe next week, maybe not at all."
