Arsenal's Mesut Ozil delights a group of Syrian children by having a kickabout in a refugee camp

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil visited Zaatari, a Syrian refugee camp in Jordan on Wednesday.

The Arsenal star played football with some of the young refugees and joined in with the Jordanian U17 woman’s team during a training session to encourage football within Zaatari.

Ozil was given a tour of the camp and shown the conditions that the refugees live in before signing autographs and giving out football shirts to.

Zaatari Refugee Camp, near the Jordanian capital of Amman is home to more than 80,000 refugees.

Mohammad al Zu'bi, a Syrian football coach at the camp said: “[Having] a player like Ozil in the camp and someone famous like him visiting gives motivation to the children.

"It shows that the big players are thinking about them, care about them.”

“Having a big player like Ozil who plays with them and joins in with the children makes us feel that there are people thinking about football in the camp."
