Santi Cazorla says other countries should follow English football's lead and be more welcoming after "truly cherishing" him time with Arsenal.

Video footage of Gunners fans abusing striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has circulated on social media this week.

It comes amid the fallout from Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka twice telling fans to "f*** off" when being booed at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

But Cazorla has nothing but positives memories of the Arsenal support, noting his interaction with fans after the 6-0 loss to Chelsea in Arsene Wenger's 1000th game in charge.

"I hate losing, especially in that manner, so I didn't want to leave the house," he told Sports Illustrated.

"I had to because my family was there and I had to show them around London but, as we were sightseeing, fans would come up to me and were so comforting, telling me it was just one game and it's only football.

"It made me feel so welcome. That to me is football in England and something I think other places should aim to be."
