Arsenal defender Zech Medley agrees Gillingham loan switch in search of regular first-team football

Arsenal youngster Zech Medley has agreed to join League One side Gillingham on loan.

The 20-year-old, who joined Arsenal’s academy setup from Chelsea in 2016, is highly regarded by youth coaches at the club.

Medley has been tipped for a big future, but both he and Arsenal are keen for him to gain more game time next season.

As a result, the centre-back is now set to join Gillingham on loan so he can gain valuable experience.

Medley is understood to be due to link-up with his new team-mates on Monday afternoon and will train with them for the first time today.

Arsenal themselves are on the hunt for a new centre-back and are tracking Lille starlet Gabriel Magalhaes.

The 22-year-old has impressed in Ligue 1 and several sides from around Europe, including Everton, Manchester United and Napoli, are now tracking him.

Arsenal are another who have expressed an interest in Gabriel and he is set to leave France this summer, with the Brazilian left out of the Lille squad who faced AZ Alkmaar in a friendly on Saturday.
