Football fans across the country were left fuming as Sky’s streaming app for mobile and tablet users crashed minutes before the final round of Premier League matches kicked off.

Subscribers to the online streaming service were faced with an error message as they tried to access coverage of the Premier League title fight between Manchester City and Liverpool.

Furious Sky Go customers took to Twitter to voice their frustrations about the lack of service.

@xsamx_ss wrote: “Cheers @SkyHelpTeam @skyhd ruin the final day of the season for us all and do nothing about it.”

While @samuel__brown complained: “Last day of the season and #skygo won't work. Absolute nightmare.”

Others were more philosophical about their predicament. @jamesyaitken said: “Decent day for SkyGo not to be working... That's maybe Sky telling me to get back to revision.”

The service returned for the start of the second half of the matches and Sky apologised for the problems via their Twitter help desk, @skyhelpteam: "We are aware of the issue with customer's accessing Sky Go, We apologise for the inconvenience and will provide updates when available."

A Sky spokesperson said: “We’re sorry that some customers were unable to watch Sky Go or NOW TV for around an hour this afternoon and we apologise for any frustration that caused. Our technical teams worked to restore the service for everyone as quickly as possible.”
