The golfer who wins this week’s US PGA Championship will have tamed a mighty beast.

Baltusrol’s Lower Course is a tough test with deep bunkers, thick rough and tough-to-read greens – and its fourth hole is one of the most difficult par threes ever designed. Phil Mickelson won the last PGA to be held at the Springfield venue in New Jersey with a score of four under and no one has ever won a major there with a double figure total under par.

American Dustin Johnson, at 7-1, heads BetVictor’s market for top honours for the last major of the year – just two weeks after the previous one, the British Open. Henrik Stenson was victorious at Royal Troon and he can be backed at 16s, while Mickelson, who joined the Swede for an epic final-round duel at The Open, is 22-1. Reigning PGA champion Jason Day and Rory McIlroy, twice a PGA winner, are available at 9-1 and Jordan Spieth is 14s.

Mickelson also heads a special market without the ‘big five’ of Johnson, McIlroy, Spieth, Day and Stenson at 14s.

BetVictor are paying each way on six places and will settle fully on ties in the top-5, top-10 and top-20 markets. You can also punt on who will be the leader after the first round – with each way terms covering the top five.

A number of special bets can be placed, including who will be the top American – with Johnson the 11-4 favourite – and you can get 11-4 on there being a play-off to determine the winner. BetVictor offer 4-5 on the eventual winner NOT being American and they also have a number of group betting markets.

If you have two players in mind for outright glory and cannot split them, you can also grab a special ‘double enhanced’ price which covers you if either of your selections wins the event.
