Do not expect England to come charging out of the blocks when they begin their quest for glory in France.

The Three Lions are notoriously slow starters at the Euros - with four draws and four defeats from their opening games at the tournament.

England are odds on at 17-20 with BetVictor to make a winning start against Russia, with the draw 12-5 and a defeat 18-5.

Of the 23 players who made it into Roy Hodgson's squad, only Wayne Rooney has scored more than five goals for his country. The Manchester United striker may no longer be the force he once was but he appeals at odds of 9-2 to be England's top scorer at the tournament. Harry Kane, who has scored five goals in 12 appearances, is the 15-8 favourite, while Jamie Vardy is 9-2 and Marcus Rashford is 10s.

BetVictor suggest England will be home early from the tournament. They make Hodgson's men 2-1 to be eliminated at the last-16 stage, while you can also get 5-2 on a quarter-final exit and 9-2 on a semi-final defeat.

England reached the Finals on the back of a 100 per cent record in qualifying and they can be backed at 9-2 to win all three of their games in Group B - it is 66-1 they fail to record a single point.

In the outright market, England are 8-1 fourth favourites behind hosts France (3-1), Germany (4-1) and Spain (5-1).

Elsewhere, Gareth Bath is 4-5 to be Wales' top scorer at the tournament - he got seven of their total of 11 goals in the qualifiers, the Republic of Ireland are 9-1 to finish second behind Italy in Group E and Northern Ireland are 2-1 to reach the knock-out stage.

BetVictor will be giving away £1,000,000 to the customer who correctly predicts, or is closest to correctly predicting, the minute and scorer of the opening goal in the Euro 2016 final on July 10. To earn a prediction, you must place a qualifying bet of £5 or more - see their website for further details.
