Martin Compston gives an update on Line of Duty future after cast enjoy reunions
Martin Compston has given an update on the status of Line of Duty season 7 after co-star Adrian Dunbar recently teased there could be more to come from the hit police drama.
Compston, 39, plays Anti-Corruption Unit Detective Inspector Steve Arnott alongside Dunbar and Vicky McClure in the Jed Mercurio-created show which has become a firm fan favourite since it first aired in 2012.
The last episode of series six aired in May 2021 with viewers crying out for more ever since.
Adding fuel to the fire, Compston, Dunbar and McClure have enjoyed several gettogethers over the years, which they’ve shared pictures of online.
While Compston says they’d like to all work together again, it’s “complicated”.
Speaking to the Mirror, he explained: "I'm sorry. They're some of my closest friends, we all love Jed, and we'd all love to work together at some point but there are no immediate plans.
“It's just getting us all together and stuff. We'd like to but yeah, these things are a bit complicated. But there are no immediate plans."
He will next be seen taking to the pitch for 2024 Soccor Aid at Stamford Bridge on June 9.
The Scottish star, who was on Greenock Morton Football Club's books as a youngster, has taken part in the major UNICEF fundraising effort on several occasions since 2018.
He joined the coaching team for last year's event where he helped his side secure a fifth consecutive win.
The line-up is set to include the likes of Usain Bolt, Eden Hazard, Lee Mack and Tommy Fury.
The live show on the day will be hosted by UNICEF UK ambassador Dermot O’Leary, who will be joined by presenter and former footballer Alex Scott.
