Rebel Wilson: I’m twice as talented as Grimsby co-star Sacha Baron Cohen

Rebel Wilson has joked that she is more talented than Sacha Baron Cohen because she took less time to master a Northern accent.

Wilson, 36, starred as Dawn alongside the British comedian in his latest film, Grimsby, and said Baron Cohen failed to take up the accent as quickly as she did.

“Sacha was like we want Dawn to be a very authentic Northern girl,” she said. “He was like ‘Rebel, it took me a month to get the accent so you have to work really hard’.”

The Australian actress revealed it only took her “two weeks – half the time that it took Sacha” to learn the accent.

She continued: “Would you say I’m twice as talented as Sacha? According to those statistics, yes.”

Wilson played Baron Cohen’s on screen wife in the Louis Leterrier directed hit which follows Carl 'Nobby' Butcher as he searches for his long lost brother Sebastian (Mark Strong), who he discovers is an MI6 agent.

Baron Cohen's wife Isla Fisher also appears in the film and described working alongside her husband as "really fun".

She said: "He's a perfectionist and he will do anything to get the joke in the best way it could possbily be. I learned a lot from watching him improvise."

The film was met with mixed reviews in the UK and failed to capture US audiences and took $3.2m (£2.4m) in its first weekend in North America.
