Love Island star Georgia Steel has revealed fears that her fraudster ex-boyfriend has stolen “tens of thousands of pounds” from her.

Steel, 21, told The Sun how she was “too terrified to sleep” after being rocked by the discovery she was missing a “huge sum of money” and ex-lover Medi Abalimba, a convicted fraudster, nowhere to be seen.

“I went on my online banking and I noticed a drastic amount had just gone. I was in my flat and I've never been in a situation like that in my life,” Steel told the publication.

“I was physically sick. I sat on my sofa and thought I was going to faint.”

The reality star revealed that she had stayed with Abalimba after learning he had been in prison because “she’s a good person” and “thought she could fix him,” but “stories kept getting worse” as the weeks went on.

Steel added that he had “made her feel safe”, saying: “He was always dressed head-to-toe in designer labels. He could speak five languages and he had this reputation that made everyone very respectful of him.”

But Steel confessed that she is “devastated and fearing for her life” after her recent experiences, which will “make her grow up quickly”.

She said: “I don’t want anyone to go through what I have. I feel like this is going to affect me for life. Looking back I feel stupid, but at the time it's like being hypnotised.”

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed to The Sun Online that officers were investigating an allegation of fraud.

Abalimba was jailed for four years in 2014 after pretending to be ex-Chelsea star Gael Kakuta in order to obtain money.

He was once a promising footballer but suffered an early end to his career after struggling to recover from an injury.
