Gemma Atkinson has revealed she almost cancelled a fitness shoot after feeling “anything but ‘fit’”.

The radio presenter, who earlier this year announced she is expecting her first child with boyfriend Gorka Marquez, opened up about her struggle with her changing body.

Opening up in a candid Instagram post Atkinson said: “I did a fitness shoot today. A fitness shoot being very pregnant with wider hips, bigger thighs, way less energy & a bigger appetite than my last fitness shoot. I basically arrived feeling anything but ‘fit.’ However I left feeling incredible!”

After a successful end to the shoot, the star encouraged her followers to push themselves.

“Something we all suffer from at times is self-doubt, and by simply believing in ourselves, we can achieve so much more,” she wrote.

She went on to explain in her story that she called Marquez, who she met as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, for support.

Atkinson added: “This morning I rung Gorka and I almost cancelled and said ‘I won’t be able to do it, Im not going to feel good, I’m to going to look good.’

“I was so frustrated at myself this morning for nothing because the shoot went well and the pictures were great. They don’t look like they did on the last one because of my different body shape but I’m still me.”

Atkinson has been keeping fans up-to-date with her pregnancy and recently showed fans how she has adapted her workout regime since becoming pregnant.

Sharing a video clip of herself working out, she stressed that her “number 1 rule” was not to “compare [herself] to anyone else”. She was praised by fans for being a “positive healthy role model for any new mums.”

Earlier this year, Atkinson and Marquez revealed their pregnancy news with help from their adorable dogs Norman and Ollie.

She shared a sweet picture of the pets posing with signs which read: “Guess what… mum’s pregnant! We’re going to be big brothers!”

Atkinson went on to add that the couple were “beyond excited” and felt “incredibly blessed.”
